Bridgestone Americas Tire Operation, LLC has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of a noncompliance issue affecting certain replacement Bridgestone brand tires. The affected models include Potenza RE050A tires in size 245/45R18 XL, as well as B390 and Turanza ER30 tires in size 205/65R16. These tires are missing required labels that fail to conform to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 139, which governs new pneumatic radial tires for light vehicles.
The missing labels could lead to the tires being overinflated or underinflated, which increases the risk of a crash. The safety recall began on April 19, 2010.
Bridgestone will notify owners of record and replace the affected tires free of charge. Owners may contact Bridgestone at 1-800-465-1904 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
