The recall is being issued because the wings of the flying dolls can break off during use, posing a risk of serious eye injuries. CPSC and Placo have received seven reports of the wings breaking off, resulting in injuries including corneal abrasions, torn retinas, and blindness. The dolls were sold in black or white flesh tones with blond and purple hair, wearing white body suits with colored skirts and boots.
The dolls were sold at toy, drug, and discount stores nationwide from January 1996 through August 1997 for about $6. Consumers should stop using the dolls immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund.
