Plain-English summary

Imperial Toy Corporation is voluntarily recalling approximately 100,000 toy vehicles, aquatic animals, bottle feeding sets, and meal time sets in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recalled items include six styles of plastic vehicles (cars, bulldozer, tow truck, dump truck, and cement truck), three styles of wind-up aquatic animals (Tammy the Turtle, Peppy the Penguin, and Sally the Seal), a bottle feeding set, and a plastic meal set. The Benjie the Beaver aquatic toy is not included in this recall.

The toys present a choking hazard to small children because they can break into small pieces. Specifically, the plastic vehicles break into small pieces; the aquatic animals' flippers, feet, and snouts break off; the bottle feeding set's nipple and funnel can break apart; and the end of the bottle in the meal set breaks off. These toys were imported from China and sold by Ben Franklin, Revco, and toy stores nationwide from 1993 to April 1995.

CPSC and Imperial Toy Corporation are not aware of any injuries involving these toys. The recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury. Consumers should take these recalled toys away from young children immediately and return them to the store where purchased for a full refund. For more information, consumers can call Imperial Toy Corporation at (800) 543-6551 or write to 2060 E. 7th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90021.
