The Thermos Company is voluntarily replacing the regulator and hose assembly on certain Thermos brand gas barbecue grills in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall addresses a possible fire hazard caused by a small percentage of assembly units supplied by Marshall Gas Controls, Inc., which could leak gas.

Approximately 130,000 grills shipped between January 24 and March 22, 1991, may be affected. The leaking regulators were part of a specific lot used in these units. There have been no reported incidents or injuries involving the regulator on these grills. Affected grills have serial numbers ending in A1, B1, or C1, located at the base of the grill near the wheels. Side burner models and grills with a red inspection mark on the regulator are not affected.

Consumers with affected models should contact Char-Broil, which acquired the Thermos grill business, at 1-800-241-7548. They should provide their name, address, and the grill's serial number. A replacement regulator and hose assembly will be shipped via overnight mail at no charge.
