Plain-English summary

Sandberg Manufacturing Company is voluntarily recalling 1,500 Caterpillar Pull Toys in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall was issued because the toys may break apart during use, producing small pieces of plastic, some with sharp points. Additionally, the balls on the ends of the antenna may detach, presenting a choking hazard to young children.

The recalled toys are made of green, orange, yellow, blue, and red plastic, featuring two small balls on the end of two springs and a red pull string attached to the head. The packaging was labeled in part "A Colorful Pull Toy, Jingle Bell Sound, Ages 1 to 3, Sandberg." These toys were imported from Hong Kong and sold nationwide from October 1988 to May 1989.

Neither the CPSC nor Sandberg Manufacturing Company is aware of any injuries involving this product. The voluntary recall is being conducted to prevent the possibility of injury. Consumers are urged to take these toys away from young children and return them to the store where purchased for a refund of the purchase price. Consumers may also return their toys to Sandberg Manufacturing Company at 1959 West Fulton Street, Chicago, Illinois 60612, or call (312) 226-2033 for more information.
