Johnson & Johnson Baby Products Company is voluntarily recalling its "Spin-A-Sound" infant toys in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall was initiated because the red end caps on the toys may become loose over time, causing the toy to come apart. This separation can expose children to the end caps, which are ingestible small parts, and a metal axle with a sharp point.

The separated pieces present a choking and/or laceration hazard. Although no injuries have been reported, the firm identified the potential risk. Approximately 1.3 million "Spin-A-Sound" toys were distributed nationwide since 1981. The toys were sold in retail stores and through a mail program. The "Spin-A-Sound" is a rattle-like toy featuring two large yellow wheels with red plastic end caps and three rotating plastic paddles.

Consumers who have a "Spin-A-Sound" toy should return it for a $10.00 refund to cover the purchase price and return postage. To participate, consumers must enclose their name, address, and approximate date of purchase, and mail the toy to: Spin-A-Sound Recall, P.O. Box 11460, Des Moines, IA 50381-1460.
