This is a second recall notice issued by the company due to poor consumer response to an initial notice in August 1988.
Consumers in the tri-state area who have not been contacted by Whirlpool should call 1-800-541-5746 to arrange for free service to replace the switch. Until the repair is completed, owners should not use the appliance. As a temporary safety measure, the power should be turned off or the dishwasher door should be left unlatched.
