The hazard involves certain paints on the metal parts of both sizes of toys, which contain levels of lead higher than permitted by law. Consequently, these specific toys are banned under CPSC regulations.

The Deluxe Voltron Lion set consists of five separate lions in different colors that connect to form a robot figure about 11 inches tall. The Miniature Voltron Lions are about 6 inches tall and have body parts that do not separate. Only the versions manufactured in Taiwan are subject to the recall; those made in Japan or made entirely of plastic are not affected. The CPSC has not received any reports of lead poisoning associated with these toys, but a risk exists if the paint is swallowed.
