Enesco Country Calico Farm Animal Toys Recalled for Choking Hazard

Enesco is recalling approximately 12,600 Country Calico Farm Animal Assortments because small parts may detach and pose a choking hazard to small children.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a choking hazard from small parts in a toy for small children, which fits the rubric criterion for 'risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.'

Plain-English summary

Enesco Imports Corp. is voluntarily recalling approximately 12,600 units of the "Country Calico" Farm Animal Assortments, Item #E-9768. These stuffed animal toys on wheels were sold nationwide since January 1983 for $4.00. The assortment includes six calico fabric figures (duck, pig, rooster, rabbit, swan, and horse) attached to wooden carts.

The recall is being conducted because the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) determined that the eyes, wheels, and other small parts may come off the toy if pulled on. These detached parts present a choking, aspiration, or swallowing hazard to small children. Neither the CPSC nor the company is aware of any reports of injuries involving these toys.

Consumers should remove these toys from use immediately and return them to the retailer where purchased for a refund. The individual figures are labeled on the bottom of the cart "ENESCO DESIGNED GIFTWARE," and the packaging is labeled "ENESCO DESIGNED GIFTWARE ITEM NO. E-9768*** 6 ASST COUNTRY CALICO FARM ANIMALS***MADE IN TAIWAN."
