The affected units are model number TPX140MN, manufactured between October 19 and November 11, 1977. Only refrigerators with a 10-digit serial number beginning with 107 are affected. Kelvinator states that no shock incidents have been reported regarding these refrigerators. As of the announcement, all but 341 of the affected units have already been modified.
Consumers should check the serial plate located on the lower left-front corner of the refrigerator, above the kick-plate grating, to verify if their unit is affected. If the model and serial numbers match, consumers should contact their dealer for a free inspection and repair. If the dealer cannot be reached, consumers may contact Kelvinator at 616-455-9190 or the CPSC at 800-638-2772.
