Plain-English summary

School Specialty, LLC is recalling approximately 15,616 plastic tip restraint kits (also called furniture straps) that were included with Childcraft furniture. The recalled kits consist of two white plastic brackets, a white plastic cable zip tie, screws, and drywall anchors.

The plastic restraint kits can break or degrade over time, posing tip-over and entrapment hazards. If the restraints fail, furniture could tip over, creating a risk of serious injury or death. Consumers may have a false sense of security that their furniture is properly secured from tip-over incidents.

The affected furniture was sold through School Specialty stores nationwide and online at www.schoolspecialty.com from July 2024 through December 2025, priced between $1,250 and $4,800. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should stop using the recalled restraint kits immediately and contact School Specialty for a free replacement made of stainless steel. Keep children away from furniture secured with the recalled restraints while waiting for replacements. Dispose of the old restraints in household trash once replacements are installed. School Specialty is contacting all direct purchasers and mailing replacement kits with notice.
