Plain-English summary
The Zippee children's activity silicone toy is being recalled. The body is a teal flexible silicone cylinder with holes through which six coloured silicone strings can be pulled, five of them ending in a spherical ball. Affected toys may carry date codes in MMDDYY format from 030620 to 110823.
The spherical ends can reach the back of the throat, posing a serious choking hazard to children. Mobi Games is aware of one incident involving a child placing the toy in their mouth and gagging, resulting in vomiting and choking; the child was released from medical care with no further injuries.
About 117,500 units were sold, with about 25,786 more in Canada, on Amazon.com, PlayMobi.com and other online platforms and in specialty toy stores from November 2019 through January 2024 for about $20.
Consumers should stop using the toy immediately, take it away from children and contact Mobi Games for a full refund, registering online and providing a photo of the toy destroyed by cutting the spherical ends off the strings.
