What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: One reported fire has been documented, constituting actual property damage. Combined with the structural vehicle defect in the carrier bearing design, this meets the Severe (4) classification criteria for structural vehicle defects with property-damage reports.
Plain-English summary
SuperATV is recalling approximately 10,700 carrier bearings sold for installation in Polaris RZR XP Turbo or Turbo S recreational off-highway vehicles. The recalled bearings were sold from April 2017 through September 2022 online and through off-road vehicle dealers nationwide.
When installed in affected Polaris RZR vehicles, the carrier bearings can allow the drive shaft to contact the fuel tank as the tank expands. This contact can cause the fuel tank to develop a hole or crack, leading to gasoline leaks that pose fire and burn hazards.
SuperATV has received 24 reports of the fuel tank contacting the prop shaft, including 19 reports of holes or cracks forming in the fuel tank and one reported fire. No injuries have been reported to date.
Consumers with affected bearings should immediately stop using the vehicles and remove the recalled bearings. SuperATV is providing a postage-paid return label to consumers who register online at https://form.jotform.com/243023918871055. Upon receipt of the recalled bearings, SuperATV will mail free replacement carrier bearings. For more information, consumers can contact SuperATV toll-free at 855-728-8256 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday.
