Aderes Bookcases Recalled Due to Tip-Over and Entrapment Hazards
TJX is recalling about 73 Aderes bookcases that can tip over if not anchored to the wall, posing tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in death or injuries to children. Two reports of unstable bookcases have been received with no injuries reported.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The hazard explicitly states risk of death or serious injury to children from tip-over and entrapment, which are high-risk harms. Although no illnesses or injuries have been reported, the potential for fatality and serious injury to a vulnerable population (children) places this in the High category per the rubric for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.
