Yamaha Kodiak 700 ATVs Recalled for Missing Load Limit Label
Yamaha is recalling about 3,500 Model Year 2021 and 2022 Kodiak 700 ATVs because they are missing the "Maximum Loading Limit" label, which can result in unsafe trailer towing and crash hazards.
What this means for you
Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Our severity reasoning: The source explicitly states "None reported" for injuries. The hazard is the missing label creating a theoretical risk of crash and injury if overloaded, but no actual harm has occurred. This falls under voluntary precautionary recall with a labeling defect and no reported incidents, consistent with a Moderate severity rating.
Plain-English summary
Yamaha Motor Corporation U.S.A. is recalling approximately 3,500 Model Year 2021 and 2022 Kodiak 700 All-Terrain Vehicles (ATVs), model number YFM700FWB. The vehicles were sold in green and orange, beige, green and black color combinations through Yamaha dealers nationwide from October 2020 through April 2022 for between $10,500 and $11,500.
The recalled ATVs are missing the "Maximum Loading Limit" label. Without this label, operators may load the vehicles or attach tongue weights that are too heavy for the vehicle's trailer towing and hitch capacity, posing crash and injury hazards due to excessive weight.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled ATVs and contact Yamaha to receive the trailer towing and hitch weight label. Yamaha is mailing the label with application instructions directly to registered owners and will apply it for free at authorized Yamaha ATV dealers.
