Frigidaire and Electrolux Refrigerators Recalled for Ice Maker Choking Hazard

Electrolux is recalling about 367,500 Frigidaire and Electrolux refrigerators because the ice level detector arm in the ice maker can break apart and fall into the ice bucket, creating a choking hazard.

Electrolux Home Products Inc. is recalling about 367,500 Frigidaire and Electrolux side-by-side, top freezer, and multi-door refrigerators sold from April 2020 through March 2022. The recalled models include 13 Frigidaire models and 1 Electrolux model, sold at Lowe's, Home Depot, appliance stores nationwide, and online at Frigidaire.com for between $1,200 and $4,300.

The ice level detector arm inside the ice maker can break into pieces and fall into the ice bucket. This poses a choking hazard to consumers. Electrolux has received 185 reports of ice level detectors breaking, including one report of gum lacerations.

Consumers should immediately stop using the ice maker in the recalled refrigerators and empty the ice bucket. They should contact Electrolux to schedule a technician visit to replace the ice maker with one that has a polypropylene ice level detector, free of charge. The brand name, model number, and serial number for each unit are printed on a label on the right panel inside the refrigerator compartment.
