About 13,200 units were sold in the United States through furniture stores nationwide at approximately $600 each.

The chests are unstable when not anchored to the wall, posing tip-over and entrapment hazards that can result in death or serious injuries to children. The recalled units do not comply with the performance requirements of the voluntary industry standard ASTM F2057-19. Magnussen Home has received one report of a chest tipping over and causing a minor bruise to a child.

Consumers can identify recalled units by a date code label on the back of the chest in the top left-hand corner. The date code is in MMYY (month and year) format, and recalled units have date codes between AG09 and AG15 (August 2009 through August 2015).

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled chest and contact Magnussen Home for a refund, which will be pro-rated based on the age of the chest.
