Plain-English summary
Communicorp Inc. is recalling approximately 635,500 six-inch plush Aflac promotional Doctor Duck items. The recall is due to a violation of the federal lead content ban, as the buttons on the duck's white lab coat contain levels of lead that exceed the standard. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues.
The recalled plush ducks are white with a yellow beak and feet, dressed in a white lab coat with buttons and a stethoscope, with "Aflac" printed on the front. The items were manufactured in China and distributed by Aflac to consumers as a promotional giveaway item. They were sold directly to Aflac employees and licensed agents from January 2005 through July 2020 for between $3 and $5. The Beverly Hills Teddy Bear Company of Santa Clarita, Calif., also distributed the items.
No injuries have been reported. Consumers should immediately dispose of the recalled plush Doctor Duck. Communicorp is contacting Aflac employees and licensed agents who purchased the items directly. For more information, consumers can contact Communicorp at 800-642-3522 Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET, or visit the company's website and click on 'Recall' at the bottom of the page.
