Safavieh Recalls Aura and Silas Chests Due to Tip-Over Hazards
Safavieh is recalling Aura and Silas 3-drawer chests because they can tip over or entrap children if not anchored to the wall.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The source explicitly states the hazard can result in death or injuries, but notes that no injuries have been reported. This aligns with the rubric criterion for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
Safavieh INTL is recalling approximately 760 Aura and Silas 3-drawer chests due to tip-over and entrapment hazards. The recalled chests are unstable if not anchored to the wall, which poses a risk of death or injury to children. The recall includes three specific models: CHS6410B (light gray drawers, light gray linen finish), CHS6403A (champagne drawers, mirror finish), and CHS6403C (steel teal drawers, mirror finish). Each chest measures approximately 32 inches wide, 16 inches deep, and 29 inches tall.
The chests were sold online through Wayfair, Overstock, Gilt, and other online retailers from November 2017 to November 2019 for between $240 and $360. The products were manufactured in Vietnam. No injuries or deaths have been reported in connection with this recall.
Consumers should immediately stop using any recalled chest that is not properly anchored to the wall and place it in an area that children cannot access. Safavieh will provide packaging and pre-paid shipping labels so consumers can remove the chest's drawer slides and return them to the firm for a full refund. Consumers can contact Safavieh toll-free at 866-422-9070 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, email [email protected], or visit www.Safavieh.com and click on “Safety Notice” at the top of the Home Page.
