Plain-English summary
Ruggable LLC is recalling about 6,200 shag area rugs because the shag covers fail to meet the federal flammability standard for carpets and rugs. This defect poses a fire hazard. The recall involves three models: shag vintage crème, shag ivory, and luxury shag white. The two-piece rugs measure about 5 feet by 7 feet, featuring a top shag cover made of furry yarn and a bottom anti-slip floor pad. The shag rug cover was also sold separately. Labels on the underside of the product indicate "Ruggable, 100% Acrylic face fiber content" and "Made in China."
The recalled rugs were sold online through Ruggable.com, Amazon.com, Americanartdecor.com, Overstock.com, and Wayfair.com from July 2018 through January 2019 for about $200. No injuries or fires have been reported in connection with this recall.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled rugs and contact Ruggable for instructions on how to receive a full refund of the purchase price or a free replacement rug cover, including shipping. Ruggable is contacting all known purchasers directly.
