Hawthorne Hydroponics Recalls Ideal-Air Humidifiers Due to Fire and Shock Hazards

Hawthorne Hydroponics is recalling Ideal-Air 175-pint industrial grade humidifiers. The recalled units are black and feature the "Ideal-Air" logo printed near the bottom. The humidifiers can overheat while in use, which poses fire and shock hazards. The firm is aware of five incidents of the humidifiers overheating, but no injuries have been reported.

About 400 units were sold in the United States, and an additional 70 were sold in Canada. The products were sold at GreenCoast Hydroponics, Growers House, Hydro Pros, Urban Garden Center, Red Flag Products stores, and other gardening stores nationwide from October 2017 through June 2018 for about $500. The humidifiers were manufactured by Ningbo Yichao Muffler Science and Technology Co. Ltd. of China and imported by Sunlight Supply Inc. of Vancouver, Washington, which was purchased by Hawthorne Hydroponics on June 4, 2018.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled humidifiers. They should return the products to the place of purchase for a full refund of the purchase price in the form of store credit.
