These multifunctional, programmable cooking appliances were sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide and online from August 2017 through January 2018 for about $80. The multicookers feature functions including roasting, baking, stewing, slow cooking, rice cooking, searing/sautéing, steaming, and food warming. The product is manufactured by Foshan Linshine Technology Co. in Guangdong, China.
The recall is due to a manufacturer defect that can cause the multicooker to overheat and melt on the underside, posing a fire hazard. Double Insight has received 107 reports of overheating, five of which resulted in minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled multicookers and unplug the unit. To receive a free replacement, consumers should return the product to Walmart.
