The recalled vehicles are silver, red, and black with four wheels, a flip-up backrest, and front and rear luggage racks. Specific date codes are listed on the vehicle seat, and the models 'Sportsman Twin' and '850 EFI' appear on the side of the vehicle.

The recall is due to a defect in a relay on the circuit board that can fail, causing the vehicle's motor to overheat and ignite. This poses fire and burn hazards to users. Peg Perego has received three reports of the vehicles overheating, including one report of a burn.

The vehicles were sold online through retailers including Amazon.com, Cabelas.com, Target.com, ToysRUs.com, and Wal-Mart.com from October 2014 through April 2016 for between $500 and $600. Consumers should immediately stop children from using the recalled vehicles and contact Peg Perego to receive a free replacement circuit board with instructions and shipping. Peg Perego is also contacting known customers directly.
