Plain-English summary

Target Corp. is recalling about 1,300 Threshold Aluminum Top/Steel X Base patio benches. The recall involves benches sold individually and as part of six-piece dining sets. The specific models include the Threshold Aluminum Top/Steel X Base Bench and various colors of the Threshold Mayhew 6-piece Wicker Dining Set.

The recalled benches can collapse while in use, which poses a fall hazard to consumers. Target has received six reports of the benches collapsing, including one report of a knee injury. The products were manufactured in China and sold at Target stores nationwide and online at Target.com from January 2016 through July 2016. The benches were sold for about $150 individually, and the dining sets were sold for about $1,000.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled patio benches and return them to any Target store for a full refund for the bench. Purchasers of individual benches will be refunded the purchase price, while purchasers of sets will be refunded the price of the individual bench. Consumers can continue to use the other pieces of the set, which included a table and four chairs.
