Plain-English summary
J. Crew Group Inc. is recalling Crewcuts brand girls' puffer coats in dark wine, navy, and sun washed peony colors. The recall involves approximately 16,400 units sold in the United States and 63 units sold in Canada. The coats feature geometric padding, faux fur trim on the hood, and six buttons down the front. Only coats with style number C9048 and specific PO numbers (5055794, 5056319, 50565325, 8053606, 8053098, or 8053603) are included in the recall. These identifiers are printed on the care label sewn into the inside seam, along with "FA 15" or "HO 15."
The recall was issued because the buttons on the front of the coats can detach, which poses a choking hazard to young children. J. Crew has received four reports of buttons detaching, but no injuries have been reported. The coats were sold in girls' sizes 2-14 for about $155 at J. Crew and Crewcuts stores nationwide, via the J. Crew catalog, and online at www.jcrew.com from August 2015 through January 2016.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled coats and return them to J. Crew or Crewcuts stores for a full refund. Online purchasers will receive email notifications with instructions for returning the coats, including a postage-paid shipping label. J. Crew is also contacting known purchasers directly. For more information, consumers can call J. Crew toll-free at 800-261-8422, email [email protected], or visit the "Important Safety Notice" section on the J. Crew website.
