What this means for you

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (lead exposure) where injury has not yet been reported, which aligns with the 'High' severity criteria.
Plain-English summary
GSI Outdoors, Inc. is recalling approximately 6,700 units of kids' insulated water bottles due to a violation of lead standards. The recall involves five styles of 13.5-ounce bottles with printed graphics, including designs such as Dino Bones, Flower Power, Orange Grid camo, Purple Tie Dye Butterfly, and Robo Shark. The bottles were manufactured in China and feature item identification number 297684 on a sticker on the bottom, along with the codes "PO#844" and "BB2D2-LLB-R45-0413."
The hazard is that the lead solder at the exterior base of the bottles contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health issues. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) reports that no injuries have been associated with this recall.
The bottles were sold exclusively at L.L.Bean retail stores, online at www.llbean.com, and in L.L.Bean catalogues from July 2015 through May 2016 for about $20. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled water bottles and contact L.L.Bean at 800-555-9717 or online at www.llbean.com for a full refund.
