Plain-English summary

Digital Gadgets LLC is recalling approximately 16,000 Hover-Way brand self-balancing scooters, commonly known as hoverboards, with model number HWSBB601-R. The recalled products were sold in red, black, or white colors and were available through QVC's televised shopping programs and website from November 2015 through December 2015 for about $400. The hoverboards were manufactured in China.

The recall is being issued because the lithium-ion battery packs in these scooters can overheat. This overheating poses a risk of the products smoking, catching fire, and/or exploding. There have been 17 incident reports of the battery packs overheating, including two reports of burn injuries and two reports of property damage.
