Plain-English summary
One World Technologies is recalling approximately 300 Ryobi 40-Volt Brushless Snow Blowers in the United States, with an additional 370 units sold in Canada. The affected models are RY40802, RY40802A, and RY40822, which were sold exclusively online at Home Depot from November 2015 through February 2016 for approximately $280 to $350. The snow blowers are black and green, feature two LED lights on the front, and have the item number RY40802 printed on the data label on the back of the unit.
The recall is due to a hazard where the snow blowers can overheat, posing a fire and burn risk. One World Technologies has received two reports of the units overheating during or immediately after use. In one instance, a consumer reported seeing flames that were immediately extinguished. No injuries or property damage have been reported.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled snow blowers and return them to One World Technologies for a full refund. For more information, consumers can contact One World Technologies at (800) 597-9624 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.ryobitools.com and click on "Important Safety Notice".
