GolfBuddy GPS Bands Recalled by Deca International Due to Burn Hazard

Plain-English summary

Deca International Corp., dba GolfBuddy, is recalling about 3,000 GolfBuddy BB5 golf GPS LED bands. The recall is due to a burn hazard where the band's charging ports can produce an electrical charge to exposed skin. The firm has received two reports of consumers being burned.

The recalled units are wearable GPS units that operate as pedometers, distance monitors, and watches. They are made of plastic with a stainless steel casing, have an LED display screen, and a two-pronged connector. The model BB5 is located on the back of the unit below the charging port. Recalled units do not have a yellow round sticker on the front or on the packaging.

The bands were sold from April 2015 through January 2016 for about $250 at PGA Tour Superstore, The Golfer's Warehouse, Worldwide Golf Shops, other authorized golf dealers, and online at www.amazon.com and www.golfbuddyglobal.com. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bands and contact GolfBuddy for instructions on how to update the unit with the latest firmware.
