Altar'd State is recalling approximately 14,000 monogrammed coffee mugs due to a fire hazard. The mugs are white ceramic, 16-ounce vessels with gold-painted monograms and accent rims, featuring a textured design resembling a golf ball and a "rope" style handle. The bottom of the mugs is mislabeled as "Microwave/Dishwasher Safe." If microwaved, the metallic paint accents can spark, creating a risk of fire.

The firm has received one report of a coffee mug sparking during microwaving, but no injuries have been reported. The mugs were sold at Altar'd State stores nationwide from October 2015 through December 2015 for about $15. The product was imported by Creative Co-Op, Inc., of Memphis, Tenn., and manufactured in China.

Consumers should stop using the mugs immediately and destroy and discard the product. A refund or other remedy is not available because the firm does not have the financial resources to fund the recall.
