Plain-English summary
Electrolux Home Products Inc. is recalling about 250 Sears Kenmore Elite dual fuel ranges. The recall involves stainless steel slide-in ranges with gas cooktops and electric ovens. The affected models are 790.42603xxx with serial numbers ranging from AF42500601 through AF43000916, and 790.42613xxx with serial numbers ranging from AF42500541 through AF43103647. The model and serial numbers are located on the inside frame of the range door on the left side. Kenmore Elite is printed on the front of the oven door.
The hazard is that the burner flame can go out while the gas is turned on. This can allow gas to escape, posing fire and burn hazards. No injuries have been reported.
The ranges were sold exclusively at Sears stores nationwide from June 2014 through October 2014 for between $3,200 and $3,700. Consumers should immediately stop using the ranges and contact Sears for a free inspection and free repair. Consumers can also contact Transform for Kenmore brand products toll-free at (800) 659-7026 during the hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. CT Monday through Friday.
