Pure Baby Organics Boys Hoodie Recalled for Strangulation Hazard

Chantique's Corp. is recalling Pure Baby Organics boy's hoodies because the neck drawstrings pose a strangulation risk to children.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (strangulation hazard) where injury has not yet been reported, which aligns with the High severity criteria in the rubric.

Plain-English summary

Chantique's Corp. is recalling about 60 Pure Baby Organics boy's zipper hooded hoodies. The recalled garments are made of 100% cotton, feature a solid gray design with a red drawstring inside the hood lining, and have a zipper front closure. They were sold in toddler boy's sizes 2t to boy's size 3. The hoodies include a white label with the name "Purebaby" sewn into the neckline, a size label stating "Made in India," and a style number label (PB1613.B12) sewn into an inside side seam.

The recall is due to a strangulation hazard. The drawstrings around the neck area can become entangled or caught on playground slides, handrails, school bus doors, or other moving objects, posing a significant risk to children. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.

The hoodies were sold at children's boutiques nationwide and other stores, including Elephant Ears, Pumpkin Heads, Sprouts, and online at Nordstrom Rack, from January 2014 through August 2014 for approximately $62. Consumers should immediately take the hoodie away from children. They can remove the drawstring to eliminate the hazard or return the item to the place of purchase for a full refund.
