Coleman Recalls Inflatable Rubber River Tubes Due to Skin Irritation

Coleman is recalling approximately 20,500 Sevylor River Racer inflatable rubber tubes sold at Walmart because contact with the tubes can cause skin irritation.

What this means for you

Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a consumer product causing skin irritation with 24 reported incidents but no severe injuries or fatalities, fitting the criteria for moderate severity.

Plain-English summary

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and The Coleman Company Inc. are recalling approximately 20,500 Sevylor brand River Racer inflatable rubber tubes. The recalled tubes are black, 36 inches in diameter, and about 15 inches tall, and each seats one person. They feature the Sevylor and River Racer logos printed in blue on the outer side, with model number 2000014090 located on the inner side below the bottom left corner of the English language warning.

The recall was issued because contact with the tubes can cause skin irritation. Coleman has received 24 reports of consumers experiencing skin irritation after contact with the product. The tubes were sold exclusively at Walmart stores nationwide and online at Walmart.com from January 2014 through July 2014 for about $25.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled tubes and contact Coleman for a free replacement tube. Coleman can be reached at (800) 835-3278 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. CT Monday through Friday, by e-mail at [email protected], or online at www.coleman.com under Customer Support.
