Hamilton Beach Brands Inc. is recalling bébé brand baby food makers due to a small parts hazard. The recall involves about 790 units sold in the U.S. and about 3,100 units in Canada. The product is a small food processor with a white and gray motor base, an orange control knob, and a clear plastic food bowl.
The hazard exists because using the slicing/shredding disc with the motor shaft adapter can cause a stainless steel pin in the food bowl lid to loosen and fall into the processed food. Hamilton Beach has received four reports of the pin becoming loose, including three instances where the pin fell into the food. There have been no reports of injuries or property damage.
The baby food makers were sold at Buy Buy Baby stores, through specialty distributor Victor Co. Inc., and online at Buybuybaby.com, Hamiltonbeach.com, and Walmart.com from September 2013 through February 2014 for about $90. Consumers should immediately stop using the slicing/shredding disc and contact Hamilton Beach to receive a free replacement food bowl lid, motor shaft adapter, and slicing/shredding disc. Consumers may continue to use the baby food maker for steaming, chopping, and pureeing.
