The recalled bats are composite models with a white and grey shell featuring blue and yellow lettering. The text "Louisville Slugger oneX" appears twice on the barrel in yellow and blue lettering, with the "X" in yellow in both instances. The bats were sold nationwide at sporting goods and other retail stores, and distributed to college amateur competitive softball teams, from approximately May 2012 through February 2013 for about $350 each.
The company has reported approximately 170 instances of bat handle separations. One report indicates that a barrel from a broken bat hit a player in the shin.
