The recall is due to a defect in the threaded end of the rack rod ball joint, which can break and become displaced. This failure can cause the driver to lose steering control, resulting in a crash. The firm is aware of 71 reports of the ball joint breaking, 13 of which resulted in the ball joint displacing. No injuries have been reported.
