Plain-English summary
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is recalling Kidgets® Animal Sock Top Slippers due to a choking hazard. The animal eyes on the slippers can detach, posing a risk to young children. Family Dollar has received one report of the eyes detaching, but no injuries have been reported.
The recalled slippers feature brown or tan dog faces, yellow duck faces, and tan lion faces. The name "Kidgets" and the size appear inside the slippers on the soles, and the code "FD9619108020690611" is printed inside on the side. About 160,000 units were sold exclusively at Family Dollar stores nationwide from September 2011 through October 2011 for about $5 each. The slippers were manufactured in China by BCNY International Inc. of Hicksville, N.Y., and distributed by Family Dollar Services Inc. of Matthews, N.C.
Consumers should immediately take the slippers away from children and return them to any Family Dollar store for a full refund. For additional information, consumers can contact Family Dollar at (800) 547-0359 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit www.familydollar.com.
