Molenaar LLC of Willmar, Minn., is recalling about 315,000 electroluminescent night lights due to a fire and shock hazard. The recalled products include Model No. 2019, which is shaped like a house, and Model No. 2017, which is square-shaped with a rounded top. These night lights glow green when plugged into an electrical outlet and have "71980 U.S.A." molded into the back panel above the brass outlet prongs. The front of the night lights may feature the brand names or logos of various companies.
The night lights can become hot to the touch and melt, resulting in a risk of possible electric shock or fire. The firm is aware of four incidents where the night lights melted, causing minor property damage. No injuries have been reported.
The recalled night lights were distributed free as promotional products by various companies between October 2001 and November 2009. Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled night lights and throw them away.
