SmileMakers Inc. is recalling approximately 66,200 "Happy" charm bracelets and 2,200 football rings. The recalled items consist of colorful beads on elastic bands with metal charms, or adjustable metal bands with football charms. The metal substrate in these jewelry pieces contains high levels of cadmium, which is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.
The products were imported by Toy Network of Indianola, Iowa, and Fun Express Oriental Trading Company of Omaha, Nebraska. They were distributed by SmileMakers Inc. of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and sold for free at doctor and dentist offices nationwide from June 2005 through March 2010. The jewelry was manufactured in China.
No injuries have been reported. Consumers should immediately take the recalled jewelry away from children and discard the product.
