MarineTech Products Inc. is recalling about 450 tabletop rope cutters used for cutting and cauterizing rope. The recalled units can overheat, which poses fire and burn hazards. The recall includes MarineTech part number 75-7070 and West Marine part number 559419. The MarineTech part number is located on the side of the rope cutter, and the word "Panther" is printed on the device.

The firm has received four reports of the rope cutters overheating. No injuries or property damage have been reported. The products were sold at West Marine stores nationwide from December 2006 through April 2009 for about $100.
