The recall involves specific models sold exclusively at Home Depot stores (Homelite and Husky brands) and Sam's Club stores (Black Max brand) from July 2008 through May 2009. Affected units have manufacturing date codes between BML306-BMM151, CHL122-CHM151, and CRL153-CRM059, which are located on the data label on the top or side of the generator engine. Products with a green dot on the outside of the package or a silver dot on the fuel gauge face are not included in the recall.

The fuel gauge on these generators can leak excessive amounts of gasoline, posing a fire hazard to consumers. No injuries or fires have been reported in connection with this recall.

Consumers should immediately stop using their generator and contact Homelite Consumer Products Inc. for Homelite and Husky brands, or Black Max for Black Max brands, to obtain a free repair kit.
