The lid on the recalled tea kettles can come loose during handling, which poses a burn hazard to consumers. The company is aware of 25 incidents where the lid came loose, and second-degree burns to hands and fingers have been reported.
These kettles were sold at retailers nationwide from March 2006 through June 2009 for about $30. Consumers should immediately stop using these tea kettles. Owners of stainless steel kettles should contact Wilton for a free replacement lid, while owners of enamel kettles should contact Wilton for a free replacement kettle or a refund.
