The recall applies to all models of the product, which were sold at mass merchandisers nationwide from April 2007 through November 2007 for between $17 and $30. The product is labeled for ages 4 and up.

The recall was issued because the coating on the beads contains a chemical that can turn toxic when many are ingested. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) received two reports of children swallowing the beads. In one incident, a 20-month-old child swallowed several dozen beads, became dizzy, vomited, and slipped into a comatose state before being hospitalized and fully recovering. A second child also vomited, slipped into a comatose state, and was hospitalized for five days.
