Plain-English summary

MTD Products Inc. is recalling the Budding Gardener Complete Gardening Set, specifically the pair of gardening gloves included in the set. The stamp-painted logo on the backside of the gloves contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects.

The recalled gloves are yellow on one side and white with rubber dots on the other. They feature a picture of four children in a field with the text "The Budding Gardners" written in red around the picture. The complete set, which also included a wheel barrel, sprinkling can, hand tools, and seeds, was sold through the Troy-Bilt website from February 2006 through January 2007 for about $50. The gloves were manufactured in China.

No injuries have been reported. Consumers should take these gloves away from children immediately and contact Troy-Bilt to exchange the gloves for a free kid-size gardener's apron. Troy-Bilt is directly contacting consumers who purchased these gloves. For additional information, consumers can call Troy-Bilt toll-free at (888) 848-6038 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or visit www.troybilt.com.
