These trees feature golden-colored rope wrapped in a spiral on the trunks and green rope lights lining the edges of the palm leaves.

The hazard exists because if the electrical connectors are not fully inserted, they can overheat. This overheating creates a risk of electric shock and fire. There have been four reports of connectors overheating, but no injuries or property damage have been reported.

The trees were sold online through Christmas Lights Etc.'s website from August 2006 through March 2007. Prices ranged from about $48 for the 2.5-foot tree to about $150 for the 7-foot Palm with Coconuts. Consumers should stop using these palm trees immediately and contact the retailer to receive a free replacement.
