What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Plain-English summary
Coast Spas Manufacturing Inc. and Franklin Electric Company Inc. are recalling approximately 8,000 Coast Spas equipped with Franklin Electric motors. The recalled spas have a circulating pump and motor assembly that can overheat, posing a fire hazard. Coast Spas has received 30 reports of spa fires, but no injuries have been reported.
The recalled spas were manufactured from January 2002 through October 2004 and sold nationwide through spa dealers for between $7,000 and $15,000. Only spas manufactured during this time frame with either red or yellow pump and motor assemblies are included in this recall. The spa manufacturer's name, date code, and pump and motor assembly can be located in the spa compartment by lifting out the compartment door.
Consumers should contact Coast Spas immediately to arrange for the installation of a free retrofit by a service technician. Until the retrofit is completed, consumers should shut off power to the spa and, in areas subject to below-freezing temperatures, winterize the spa. Winterization procedures can be found in the owner's manual or by contacting Coast Spas by phone.
