Plain-English summary
Cardinal Distributing Co. Inc. is recalling approximately 200 children's rings featuring dice or horseshoes. The recalled rings are silver with either dice or horseshoes on top; some dice have painted numbers, while the horseshoes feature painted polka dots in pink, green, purple, or yellow. The rings were sold for about 25 cents in vending machines located in malls, discount, department, and grocery stores in the Baltimore, Maryland area from August 2004 through March 2007.
The recall is being issued because the rings contain high levels of lead, which is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. These specific rings were part of a previous recall of 150 million pieces of children's metal jewelry in July 2004, but the firm placed the recalled rings back into circulation. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
Consumers should immediately take the recalled rings away from children and throw the rings away. For additional information, consumers can contact Cardinal Distributing Co. Inc. at (800) 368-2062 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's website at www.vendingdepot.com.
