What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (lead paint) where injury has not yet been reported, which aligns with the High severity criteria for products posing a risk of harm without reported illness.
Plain-English summary
The Little Tikes Co. is recalling approximately 20,800 Glowin' Dino and Glowin' Doggy animal-shaped flashlights. These products were sold at Target stores nationwide from November 2005 through December 2005 for about $10. The flashlights are about 9 inches long and make electronic sounds when switched on.
The recall is being issued because the light green paint on the dinosaur flashlight and the brown paint on the dog flashlight could contain excess levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by young children and can cause adverse health effects. No injuries have been reported in connection with this recall.
Consumers should immediately take the recalled flashlights away from young children. To determine if a unit is affected, check the bottom of the flashlight for one of the following date codes: LC5H161, LC5H291, LC5I031, LC5I091, LC5I131, LC5J061, LC5J231, or LC5J311. Units with an "R" at the end of the date code or other animal flashlight characters are not included. Consumers can contact The Little Tikes Co. toll-free at (800) 321-0183 or visit littletikes.com for a free replacement flashlight or refund.
