Aristo Home and Garden is recalling Fire Stick lighters because they lack child-resistant mechanisms, posing fire and burn risks to young children.
What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk-of-harm product (fire/burn hazard) where injury has not yet been reported, which aligns with the High severity criteria.
Plain-English summary
Aristo Home and Garden, of West Deptford, N.J., is recalling approximately 36,000 Fire Stick Multi-Purpose Lighters. The recalled products are refillable butane-fueled lighters, silver in color with a black sliding switch. Two models are included in the recall: a 7-inch model (model number 324007) and a 12-inch model (model number 324012). The words "Aristo Home & Garden" and "Fire Stick" are printed on the original packaging.
The lighters are being recalled because they fail to meet federal safety standards due to the absence of child-resistant mechanisms. If young children gain access to these multi-purpose lighters, they can pose a fire hazard or burn risk. Aristo has not received any reports of incidents or injuries involving the Fire Stick lighters.
The lighters were sold at home and garden retail outlets nationwide from November 2002 through October 2004. The 7-inch models were sold for $10, and the 12-inch models were sold for $20. Consumers should stop using these lighters immediately and return them to their place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers may also contact Aristo at (888) 846-9921 between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET Monday through Friday, or visit the firm's website at www.aristousa.com.
