The spark screens act as a cover over the top of a copper fire pit that sits in a black, three-legged stand. The Sean Conway Fire Pit itself is not included in this recall. The recalled items have an item number of 525-90-0800 and a UPC number of 97169934567.
The spark screens can catch fire when they come into direct contact with a flame, posing a burn and fire hazard to consumers. Marshall Field's has received three reports of the spark screen catching fire. No injuries or property damage have been reported.
About 430 units were sold at Marshall Field's stores in Illinois, Minnesota, Michigan, and one store in Wisconsin, as well as on the company's website, from January 2004 through May 2004 for about $50. Consumers should stop using the spark screens immediately and return them to any Marshall Field's store for a full refund. Consumers can also call Marshall Field's collect at (612) 375-3382 between 9 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. CT Monday through Friday.
